Nathaniel Richardson, Dem Candidate for Chesapeake Governor Character Biography
Nathaniel “Nate” Richardson was born in 1982 in Youngtown Ohio to a union family, his father belonging to the Transport Workers Union of America. He was a middling student but active and well known in his local community, he like many blue collar kids joined the ROTC in the hopes of financial assistance for a better life. He attended Kent State, studying Pre Law and on graduation in 2004 was deployed to 3 tours in Afghanistan and 1 in Iraq between 2004 and 2010 while on active duty. During this time he also continued working towards a full law degree from Villanova.
After 6 years active duty, Nate transferred to the reserve and was hired by the Transport Workers Union of America in 2011 and was married to Isabella Garcia the same year and they started a family eventually having 3 children. During the 2012 election he began to get politically involved in low level Ohio politics finding himself surprisingly good at it. Since 2012 he has continued to serve as a lawyer for the Transport Workers Union across Chesapeake and as an organizer and activist for the Democratic Party. In 2018 he was elected to the state senate in his own right, during his tenure he pushed for Infrastructure investments, pro-union policy, and healthcare expansion.
